1. Information We Collect

Q Edu is an education and language-learning app. Most learning features can be used without signing in. If you choose to sign in or use paid features, we may collect or process the following data:

2. Microphone and Speech

The app requests microphone access (RECORD_AUDIO) for speaking practice and speech recognition. Microphone audio is used for speech recognition on the device or through the device's speech services. We do not store microphone recordings on our servers.

3. On-Device AI

Conversation tutoring, translation, and word explanations may use an AI model that runs on the device. When the on-device model is used, the generated learning conversation is processed locally. Model files may be downloaded after user action or consent.

Open-source model attribution and license information is available in the Open Source Notices.

4. Server AI and OpenAI API

If server AI features are enabled or selected, your prompts, learning text, conversation content, translation requests, evaluation requests, and AI outputs may be sent to an OpenAI API or an OpenAI-compatible AI provider to generate a response.

When OpenAI API is used, the processing is subject to OpenAI's applicable terms, usage policies, and data controls. OpenAI states that data sent to the OpenAI API is not used to train or improve OpenAI models unless the API customer explicitly opts in. See OpenAI data controls and OpenAI terms and policies.

5. Payments

Premium subscriptions and e-book purchases are handled through Google Play Billing. Google processes payment method details. The app only uses purchase and entitlement status to provide premium features and e-book access.

6. Advertising

The app may show ads through Google AdMob or Google Play services. These services may process advertising identifiers, device information, approximate signals, and ad interaction data according to Google's policies. Premium users may have ads removed where supported by the app.

7. Third-Party Services

8. How We Use Data

We use data to provide app features, manage accounts, sync learning progress, verify purchases, prevent fraud, maintain security, comply with legal requirements, analyze app reliability, and show or manage ads where applicable.

9. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal data. Data may be processed by service providers such as Google, Supabase, AdMob, Google Play Billing, OpenAI, and OpenAI-compatible AI providers only as needed to provide authentication, billing, ads, diagnostics, hosting, security, AI response generation, or app functionality.

10. Data Security

Data is transmitted using encrypted connections where supported by the relevant platform and service. Access to server-side learning data is limited to the authenticated account and operational systems needed to provide the service.

11. Data Retention and Deletion

Local data such as cached progress, model files, and e-book cache can be removed by uninstalling the app or clearing app data. Server-side account data, learning progress, and entitlement mapping data can be deleted by request.

To request deletion, visit Account and Data Deletion Request or email [email protected].

Some records, such as Google Play purchase, refund, tax, security, or compliance records, may be retained by Google or payment systems as required by law or policy.

12. Children and Age

The app is intended for users aged 13 and older. The K-12 labels inside the app describe educational difficulty levels, not a target audience of children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal data, contact us so we can delete it.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when app features, data practices, or legal requirements change. The latest version will be posted at this URL.
